FAQs

Is this just ChatGPT with four prompts?

It runs on models anyone can use, and we won’t pretend otherwise. But ask a raw chatbot to ‘be a producer’ and it will flatter you, contradict itself tomorrow, and forget you the moment you close it. The Read Before is the judgment we built around the model: a real standard it’s held to, the discipline to tell you no, and a memory for your project that a one-off prompt will never have.

Are real industry people involved in my read?

No. The Read Before is a simulated development process. No real industry people, companies, talent, or money are involved in any read. The readers are AI simulations built to read your pages the way the town would.

Who sees my material?

Your pages are processed to produce the read and are not kept. A major U.S. large language model provider processes them through its API for the read. The generated read may be saved to your account. See Terms and Privacy.

What happens when a read stops early or fails?

A stopped read includes every reader your pages reached, the reason the read stopped, and where the rewrite starts; later readers don’t read or appear. Eligibility is checked before development begins. If Intake refuses the submission, you cancel, or the service can’t complete the read, that read credit returns to the project. A completed fresh read uses it.

Will every read reach all four readers?

No. The Producer reads first. If a reader says no, the read stops there and later readers don’t read or appear. A yes sends the script to the next reader.

What can I submit?

The app accepts .fdx, text-based .pdf, .docx, and .fountain files. Treatments, outlines, pitches, partials, full screenplays, and coherent narrative prose can be submitted. Scanned or unreadable files are rejected before Intake with a specific explanation.

How long does a read take?

Full reads usually take about 10–30 minutes. Long scripts and busy hours can slow it down. You can close the tab and come back while it runs.

Is the proofread guaranteed?

If the proofread verifies mechanical errors in your pages, your report includes them with corrections and page locations. If it can’t verify any, there’s simply no proofread section; you’ll never get padded or invented corrections.

Can Project Pass revision reads move between projects?

No. A Project Pass’s two revision-read credits stay with the project you bought. Use them for new drafts of that same script; they can’t be transferred to another project.

How should I use the market context?

A required market scan informs each reader’s notes; if that required step can’t complete, the report isn’t delivered and the credit returns. Because the analysis is AI-generated, treat named market facts as research leads to verify, not legal, financial, or acquisition advice.
